notgalerie – Translokation

(D) Bei der Notgalerie handelt es um ein umfangreiches Projekt welches 2015 begann und welches sich auch aktuell fortlaufend entwickelt.
Ihren Ursprung hatte die notgalerie 1946 als Notkirche in Döbling. Eine erste Translokation fand 1969 statt als das Gebäude zerlegt und in Wien Donaustadt wieder errichtet wurde. Dort fand ich das Gebäude 2015 in einem Zustand des langsamen Zerfalls. Kurz nach der ersten “Entdeckung” besetzte ich das Gebäude und Grundstück und begann es Gesamtinstallation zu behandeln und unter dem Titel notgalerie zu entwickeln.

Einerseits versteht sich die notgalerie als Gesamtkunstwerk / Installation. In dieser Funktion ist sie auch Ort für viele andere KünstlerInnen welche eigene Projekte dort entwickeln und umsetzen. Genauso habe ich in den Jahren seit 2015 eigene Installationen und Aktionen für die notgalerie entwickelt. Vor allem diese sind hier auf meiner website präsentiert. Auf der eigens für die notgalerie bestehenden website www.notgalerie.at findet man alle dort entstandenen Projekte und auch Ankündigungen für kommende Veranstaltungen etc.

(E)Notgalerie is an extensive project that started in 2015 and is still ongoing.
The Notgalerie originated in 1946 as Notkirche in Döbling. A first translocation took place in 1969 when the building was dismantled and rebuilt in Vienna Donaustadt. There I found the building 2015 in a state of slow decay. Shortly after the first “Discovery” I occupied the building and grounds and started to treat it as a total installation and develop under the title Notgalerie.

On the one hand, the Notgalerie sees itself as a Gesamtkunstwerk / installation. In this capacity, she is also a place for many other artists who develop and implement their own projects there. In the same way, in the years since 2015, I have developed my own installations and actions for the Notgalerie. Especially these are presented here on my website. On the notgalerie website www.notgalerie.at you will find all projects and announcements for upcoming events etc.

Nachdem 2015 und 2017 regelmässig Ausstellungen und Aktionen in und um die notgalerie stattfanden, stand im Frühling 2017 das Ende des Gebäudes bevor.
Der neue Pächter beschloß den Abriss zugunsten eines Wohnbauprojekts. Ausgehend von der Geschichte des Gebäudes und dem bevorstehenden Abriss entwickelte ich das Projekt der erneuten Translokation, das dann im Sommer / Herbst 2017 umgesetzt wurde. Die erste Phase war der Abbau der notgalerie. Dies fand im Juli 2017 statt.

Der Abbau fand über diesen Zeitraum als Gesamtaktion statt und jede Phase des immer mehr zerlegten Gebäudes wurde für Kunstaktionen genutzt. Beim Abbau selbst wurde die notgalerie in mehrere tausend Einzelteile zerlegt, jedes davon beschriftet und katalogisiert, um den erneuten Aufbau auf einem Grundstück am Nordrand der Seestadt, gleich gegenüber der neuen U-Bahn Station “Aspern Nord” zu ermöglichen.

After regular exhibitions and activities in and around the Notgalerie in 2015 and 2017, the end of the building was approaching in spring 2017.
The new leaseholder decided the demolition in favor of a housing project. Based on the history of the building and the upcoming demolition, I developed the project of the re-translocation, which was then implemented in the summer / autumn of 2017. The first phase was the removal of the emergency gallery. This took place in July 2017.

Building down the site took place over this period as a total action and each phase of the increasingly disassembled building was used for events together with other artists. During the dismantling itself, the Notgalerie was divided into several thousand individual parts, each of which was labeled and cataloged in order to enable the rebuilding on a plot on the northern edge of the Seestadt Aspern, just opposite the new subway station “Aspern Nord”.
