Diese Arbeit entstand im Jahr 2009 im Rahmen des Projekts “FunDing Factory” der britischen Künstlerin Sophie Hope. Damals zu Gast in Wien lud die Künstlerin StudentInnen ein, zu ihrem Konzept der FunDing Factory Arbeiten zu entwickeln. Ihr Konzept behandelte ihre Beobachunten wonach die Kunstausbildung sich immer stärker in den Bereich des Kreativ Arbeiters anstatt des Künstlers entwickelte.
Ich vertrat in meinem Konzept die Ansicht das künstlerische Arbeit stringent sein sollte und der/die KünstlerIn ihren Weg konsequent gehen muss.
In der Umsetzung interessierte ich mich für die Nutzung von Unorten / Brachland. Dies geschah im Bereich Spittelau und dem dortigen Einfahrgebiet der Ubahnlinie U4. Die verwinkelten Schienenstrecken und Schienenreste schienen mir als strukturelle Entsprechung für unsere Situation als junge KunststudentInnen.
Gemeinsam mit Evelyn Kuppelwieser entstand eine Fotoserie und die tatsächliche Umsetzung des Schienenszenarios in den Ausstellungsraum. In diesem inszenierte ich die Schienenstrecke als durchgehende Linie von einem Raumende zum anderen.
Die “FunDing Factory” verstand ich so als etwas das man durchquerren muss, aber sich nicht dazu entscheiden muss dort halt zu machen.

funding factory
This work was created in 2009 as part of the project “FunDing Factory” of the British Artist Sophie Hope. She visited Vienna with a concept that she developed in London and invited students of the University of applied arts to take participate in her project. Her concept was working with the topic of art and creative industry. She felt that artists become more and more creative workers and art itself gets lost in the field of art education.
I took the view in my concept that artistic work should be stringent and that as an artist you have to consistently go your own way.
In the implementation I was interested in the use of waste / Fallow land. This happened in the area Spittelau and the local entry area of the subway line U4.
The winding railway tracks and track remnants seemed to me as a structural equivalent for our situation as young art students. Together with Evelyn Kuppelwieser we created a photo series and the actual implementation of the rail scenario in the showroom.
In the showroom itself, I staged the Rail track as a continuous line from one Room end to the other. The Funding Factory I understood as something that you have to cross, but where you are free to decide not to stop there.
